In the second round of the National Basketball Association playoffs, Josh Howard and the Dallas Mavericks fell to 0-2 in the best-of-seven series with Denver after last night's loss, 117-105. Chris Paul's season ended last Wednesday against the Nuggets in the first round.
In the first game of this Western Conference semifinal series on Sunday, Howard netted 15 points and grabbed two rebounds. He turned his right ankle in the first half of the 109-95 loss in Denver but returned to the game and played a total of 33 minutes.
Last night in Denver, Howard started Game 2 despite not practicing on Monday. He was forced to leave the game due to his ankles after playing six minutes. Howard had two assists and one rebound before exiting the contest.
The third game of the series will tip off at 5:00 p.m. (ET) on Saturday. ESPN will air the game. On Monday, Game 4 will start at 9:30 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast on TNT.
For New Orleans, Paul played 46 minutes in the Hornets' final game of the season last Wednesday in a loss at Denver, 107-86. He totaled 12 points, 10 assists, six rebounds and three steals in the contest to conclude his second consecutive All-Star season.
