New Golf Center Construction

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest has begun construction on it's new on-campus golf facility and hopes to have it available for the men's and women's teams by the spring of 2010.
The first phase of the project will be to expand on the current facility, using the land which used to house Gene Hooks Stadium. The new 18-acre facility will feature a number of target greens, three new chipping greens, two putting greens and a five-person hitting bay.
Demolition of the old Gene Hooks field started early this summer and grading of the land will take place over the next few weeks. Once the land has been shaped, it will be seeding by mid-September and sod will be laid on the teeing grounds by the end of September. If everything goes as planned this fall, the teams will be able to use the hitting bay and new driving range next spring.
The second phase of the process will be the construction of the Golf House. The state-of-the-art facility will house offices for both coaches, separate team locker rooms as well as an indoor putting green and a club repair room.
