Michael Bingham Off To Good Start At World Championships

BERLIN, Germany - Former Wake Forest All-American Michael Bingham began his quest for a World Championship Tuesday morning in Berlin, Germany at the 12th IAAF World Championships.
Bingham, running as a member of the Great Britain track & field team, finished second in his heat with a time of 45.54. There were a total of seven heats and the top-3 in each heat plus the next four fastest times advanced to Wednesday's semi-finals.
There will be three heats of the semi-finals and only the top-2 in each heat and two next fastest times advance to the finals. Bingham will be in the first heat along with former Gold medalist Jeremy Wariner of the United States. The semi-finals are set to start at 12:15 pm EST.
Bingham is also scheduled to compete for Great Britain in the 4x400-meter relay. He was part of GB's relay team last summer at the Beijing Olympics that finished fourth overall. That event begins with prelims on Saturday and the finals will be on Sunday.
