WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest is set to wrap up a challenging week by hosting ACC-leading Virginia on Saturday afternoon. The Demon Deacons will tangle with the Cavaliers, who enter having won eight straight games, at 4 p.m. in the Lawrence Joel Coliseum. The game will be televised by Raycom and is also available on the Wake Forest ISP Sports Radio Network.
The Deacons are 13-4 overall and 3-2 in the ACC following their 82-69 defeat of No. 24 North Carolina on Wednesday in Chapel Hill. The win was Wake Forest's first at the Smith Center in six seasons.
Ishmael Smith and C.J. Harris led the way with 20 points apiece. Harris and Ari Stewart combined to go 7-of-11 from three-point range, and the Deacons shot 50 percent overall from the field.
Al-Farouq Aminu posted his ACC-leading 12th double-double of the season with 13 points and a game-high 11 boards.
Wake Forest is completing a stretch that saw the Deacons play three games in seven days. Wake Forest began the week with a loss at No. 8 Duke on Sunday before picking up a win at North Carolina on Wednesday. Two of the Deacons' next four games are against Virginia.
Virginia comes in at 12-6 overall and 3-0 in the ACC after its 69-67 defeat of UNC Wilmington on Monday. The Cavaliers sit atop the ACC as the only team in the league with an unblemished conference record.
Wake Forest leads the all-time series with Virginia, 66-59. The Deacons have won three straight over the Cavaliers, including a 70-60 win last season in Charlottesville.
Wake Forest Welcomes Basketball Alumni
Wake Forest will welcome over 60 Deacon basketball alumni to campus this weekend. The group will be recognized at halftime of Saturday's game and then will play an alumni game at the Joel Coliseum following the Deacons' contest against UVa.
