After opening with a 4-under 68, Bill Haas has fired three-straight rounds of 6-under 66 and is just one shot off the lead heading into the final round of the Bob Hope Classic in La Quinta, Calif.
Haas shot a bogey-free 66 on Sunday and has made just four bogeys compared to 26 birdies in the four rounds He is 22-under and trails Bubba Watson and Alex Prugh who currently sit at 23-under. Rain on Thursday pushed the second of five rounds back until Friday and thus forcing a Monday finish.
Webb Simpson has also enjoyed a solid week at the Hope as he is tied for 17th at 17-under par. He carded an opening round 5-under 67 but slipped-back with an even-par 72 on Friday. However, the 2008 graduate rebounded with a pair of 66s the last two days to put himself into contention.

The Champions Tour also opened this week at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai Resort in Hawaii. Jay Haas and Curtis Strange were two of just 36 players in the field. Haas carded rounds of 70-67-70 to tie for 17th while Strange fired scores of 71-73-75 to finish tied for 34th.
The seniors will now have a few weeks off before returning to the mainland for The ACE Group Classic at the Quarry in Naples, Fla., on Feb. 12-14.
