
Men's Cross Country Wins Charlotte Invitational

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Wake Forest cross country teams had an outstanding day at the Charlotte Invitational as the men's team finished first out of 22 schools, and junior Anna Nosenko ran the fastest time of any woman on the course at McAlpine Park.
The men's team came in first in the team competition with 38 points, 16 points ahead of second-place finisher Virginia Tech. The Deacons were led by senior Tom Divinnie who finished in second place overall with a time of 24:45.8 on the 8k course. Greg Billington and Garrett Drogosh finished in fourth and fifth with times of 24:50.7 and 25:51.4, respectively.
The women's team totaled 66 points in the competition, good for third place overall behind Clemson (43 points) and Virginia Tech (51 points).
Nosenko finished the 5k race in 16:38.4 beating the second-place finisher, Clemson's Kim Ruck, by 14 seconds. Freshman Nicole Irving also turned in a strong performance, finishing fourth with a time of 17:11.8. Allison Homer rounded out the Demon Deacons in the top 10, running the course in 17:41.7, good for ninth overall.
Both the men's and women's teams will be back in action on Oct. 15 when they travel to Charlottesville, Va. for the Panorama Farms Invitational.
