WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest head coach Jeff Bzdelik announced today that two prospective student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Wake Forest beginning in the fall of 2011.
Guard Chase Fischer (Ripley, W.Va.) and forward Daniel Green (Colleyville, Texas) both signed their official commitments today to join the Demon Deacon basketball family next season.
"We are excited to welcome both Chase and Daniel to our basketball program," said Bzdelik. "Both young men exemplify what we are all about here at Wake Forest University. They are both true student-athletes with high character and very bright futures in the game of basketball."
Fischer is a 6-3 shooting guard out of Ripley High School in West Virginia. Fischer earned first team all-state honors as a junior last season, averaging 32 points per game to lead the entire state. He finished second in voting for the Evans Award, which goes to the state's player of the year. Fischer was also the co-player of the year in the Mountain State Athletic Conference.
"Chase is a great shooter with deep range and a quick release," said Bzdelik. "He also possesses a high basketball IQ and has the ability to play multiple guard positions. Chase has the chance to have a great career at Wake Forest."
Green is a 6-9 forward out of Grapevine High School in Texas. Green averaged over eight points and eight rebounds as a junior last season at Grapevine. He also excelled on the AAU level with the Dallas Mustangs.
"Daniel is an extremely long and young forward who is tremendously skilled for a player his size," said Bzdelik. "He has a tremendous work ethic and will continue to improve in our system. We are expecting big things from him."
