Q: What was your "Welcome to college basketball moment"?
A: Probably when I started starting games as a freshman. I probably had five turnovers in a row each game. It was easier on the bench because I could scope the game out first and then I would know what I needed to do when I got in there. But it was hard the first couple of times I started to get a feel for the game at the beginning.
Q: What is the biggest thing you've learned over your first two years in school?
A: One of the best things that I've learned is that it's okay to make mistakes as long as you learn from them.
Q: Describe what it's like playing for Coach Petersen.
A: I think playing for Coach Petersen has been a character-building experience for me and has helped me grow as a person. I think he's a great coach. I like him because he tells you the truth whether it hurts or not because ultimately, it will help you. He has really good character, and he has certainly helped me.
Q: In one word, describe playing in the ACC.
A: Fun. It's so much fun. A lot of my teammates from AAU back in Orlando play in the ACC so almost every game, I know somebody. The competition also makes it fun. Every game is going to be intense and there aren't many blowouts.
Q: The team has been on the verge of going to the NCAA Tournament the last two years. What will be the key this season that puts you over the hump?
A: We need to be consistent and keep fighting the entire game. Last year, we lost some really close games and if we won just one of those games, we may have been in the NCAA Tournament. It comes down to focusing at every moment and being consistent at every moment. Because, a lot of times it comes down to one play here or there.
Q: Having played in every game in your first two years, what would you tell the freshmen is the single biggest key to competing at the collegiate level?
A: Memory loss. Going back to one of the biggest things I learned, mistakes are going to happen. Learning from them and forgetting them is what helps you become more consistent.
Q: What has been your best on-the-court moment at Wake so far?
A: I really can't name just one. I love every moment I'm on the court. Even the bad ones. I just love being on the court.
Q: Why did you choose your major and why?
A: My major is communication with a minor in journalism. I choose that because I want to be a sports broadcaster one day.
Q: What is one of your favorite classes that you've taken?
A: I'm taking intro to journalism right now. I've really enjoyed that class. We have to write a story just about every week and I started out getting Cs because the professor said my writing was too opinionated. Because of that, I have learned to write so much better, and the stuff we cover is interesting.
Q: What has been your favorite road trip over the last two years?
A: The road trip to Orlando two years ago was great because I got to see all of my family. It was a lot of fun. We were in Orlando for almost a week, and I hardly get to go back. So that was definitely my favorite trip so far.
