Wake Forest Places 10th at NCAA Southeast Regionals

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Senior Tom Divinnie paced the Wake Forest men's cross country team to a 10th place finish out of 34 teams at the NCAA Southeast Regionals on Saturday morning at E.P. 'Tom' Sawyer State Park.
Divinnie led the Deacons for the fourth time this season. The Nashville, Tenn. native finished the 10k course in a time of 31:53.6.
Redshirt freshman Devin Huizenga was the second Wake runner to cross the finish line, coming in 56th place in a time of 32:10.5.
Senior Greg Billington took 62nd place in a time of 32:16.5, while sophomore Garret Drogosch finished in a time of 32:40.1 to place 76th.
Senior Marcus Dillon rounded out the scoring for the Deacon men, placing 84th in a time of 32:52.3.
Sophomore Nate Guthals finished in a time of 33:15.7 for 107th place.
The Wake Forest men finished with 319 total points. The Deacons turned in their highest NCAA Regional finish since placing ninth in 2007.
William & Mary won the men's race with 85 points, while Duke took second with 119 points.
Liberty's Samuel Chelanga won the men's race in a time of 29:55.8. He was the only runner to break 30:00 in the race.
On the women's side, junior Anna Nosenko placed third overall to earn All-Region honors for a third straight season, leading the Wake Forest women to a 12th-place finish out of 37 teams.
Nosenko finished the 6k course in 20:13.7, which was 19 seconds off the pace of race winner Laura Hoer of NC State. Nosenko has now earned All-Region honors in each of her first three seasons at Wake Forest. She finished 21st at the regional meet as a freshman in 2008 and 13th as a sophomore last season.
Sophomore Allison Homer was the second Deacon to cross the finish line, placing 46th in a time of 21:36.9.
Freshman Nicole Irving was not far behind Homer, finishing in 52nd place with a time of 21:39.7 in her first NCAA Regional meet.
Seniors Cate Berenato and Marley Burns rounded out the scoring for the Deacon women. Berenato placed 115th in a time of 22:41.7, while Burns came in at 22:45.3 for 123rd place.
Senior Caitlin Crawford finished in a time of 22:58.5 for 140th place.
The Wake Forest women finished with 339 total points, which was just five behind Western Kentucky for 11th. The Deacons turned in their highest NCAA Regional finish since placing eighth overall in 2007.
Virginia won the women's meet with 69 total points, while North Carolina took second with 100 points. Each of the top five finishing teams on the women's side were ACC schools.
