Team Records and Series Notes:
- Wake Forest falls to 1-2 on the season while VCU improves to 3-0.
- The Demon Deacons still lead the overall series between the two teams 2-1.
- Jeff Bzdelik's career head coaching record falls to 116-107.
- The Demon Deacons return to action on Saturday when they take on Elon at the Greensboro Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. VCU will move on to the semifinals of the NIT Season Tip-Off at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Nov. 24.
Wake Forest Team Notes:
- Key Run: Trailing 53-49 with 13:75 to play in the second half, VCU went on a 25-6 run over the next 5:46 to take a 74-59 lead. The Demon Deacons would never get closer than 13 points the rest of the way.
- Key Stat: Wake Forest turned the ball over 23 times, including 15 times in the second half, compared to only seven for VCU. The Rams scored 31 points off turnovers.
- The Demon Deacons shot a season-high 56.3 percent (9-of-16) from behind the three-point line, their highest mark since also shooting 56.3 percent from distance in their 82-69 win at North Carolina in 2009.
- Wake Forest made nine of its last 11 shots of the first half to draw within three points, heading into the locker room trailing 43-40. The Deacs took the lead for the first time at the 18:23 mark of the second half as Ari Stewart drilled a three-pointer to put Wake ahead 46-45.
Wake Forest Individual Notes:
- Ari Stewart led the Demon Deacons with 18 points, setting a new career-high for field goals in a game (7) and tying his career-high for three-point field goals in a game (4). Stewart also pulled down seven rebounds.
- C.J. Harris came up one rebound short of his first-career double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing nine rebounds. The nine boards set a new career high, eclipsing his previous best of five rebounds against Winston-Salem State on Nov. 24, 2009. Harris also led the team with four assists.
- Carson Desrosiers blocked a career-high five shots. Desrosiers finished with three rebounds and five points, including his first-career three-pointer.
- Travis McKie extended his streak of 10+ point performances to start his career to three games. McKie totaled 10 points and also grabbed five boards.
- J.T. Terrell also scored in double digits, finishing with 14 points in addition to dishing out three assists.
