WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Ty Walker had a school-record 11 blocks, and Travis McKie posted his second double-double to lead Wake Forest past Marist, 81-59, in the NIT Season Tip-Off consolation round at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum.

With the win, the Demon Deacons even their record at 3-3. The Red Foxes drop to 0-5 on the season with the loss.

With his performance on Tuesday, Walker broke Tim Duncan's 14-year old school record for blocks in a single game. Duncan had 10 blocks against Maryland on Jan. 13, 1996. Walker had five blocks in the first half and then posted six in the second to set the record.

Walker tied Duncan's mark with 5:59 remaining in the second half and broke it a minute later when he batted away Rob Johnson's layup attempt. He came within two of the ACC record, which is held by Boston College's Sean Williams.

McKie finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the year. He extended his season-opening double-figure scoring streak to six games, getting 12 of his 16 points in the first half. McKie went 10-for-13 from the free throw line.

J.T. Terrell also had 16 points on the night, going 3-for-5 from the field and 7-for-10 from the four line. Terrell added four assists and three steals.

Ari Stewart had 14 points, Gary Clark had 12 and C.J. Harris chipped in 11 to give the Deacons five players in double figures. Harris dished out a game-high five assists. As a team, Wake had 15 assists on 19 field goals.

The Deacons shot just 35.2 percent (19-of-54) from the field but did most of their damage from the charity stripe. Wake Forest was 34-of-44 at the free throw line for 77.3 percent. The two teams were whistled for a combined 50 fouls, and they combined to shoot 72 total free throws.

The Deacons went 9-for-20 (45 percent) from three-point range. Terrell hit 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, while Clark was 2-for-3.

Marist out-rebounded Wake, 47-41, but the Deacons had just nine turnovers to 15 by the Red Foxes.

The teams played most of the first half tight until Wake Forest went on a decisive run near the end of the period. With Marist holding a 24-22 lead at the 7:40 mark, the Deacons went on a 13-2 run over the next three and a half minutes to take control of the game.

Wake Forest led by 12 at the break, 41-29. The Deacons pushed their lead to as many as 25 (68-43) in the second half, as the Red Foxes never threatened the rest of the way.

Anell Alexis, the only Red Fox in double-figure scoring, led Marist with 10 points, while Adam Kemp pulled down a team-best nine boards.

Wake Forest will have a week off before returning to action on Tuesday, Nov. 30, when the Deacons host the Iowa Hawkeyes in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will be televised on ESPNU.
