Team Records and Series Notes:
Wake Forest improves to 4-3 on the season, while Iowa is now 3-4 on the year.
The Deacs now hold a 4-0 lead in the all-time series with Iowa. Wake is also 17-16 all-time against Big Ten opponents.
Wake Forest improves to 9-2 all-time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, including a perfect 6-0 mark at the Joel Coliseum during the Challenge.
Wake Forest continues its early stretch of home games on Saturday when it hosts Holy Cross at 1 p.m. The game will be aired live on the Wake Forest Sports Network from IMG College.
Wake Forest Team Notes:
Key Run: With the game tied at 73 with four seconds remaining, J.T. Terrell made a fadeaway three-pointer from 25 feet to put the Deacs in front by three. On the ensuing inbounds pass, Ty Walker got a hand on the ball, knocking it away from the Iowa player as time expired.
Key Stat: After shooting 38.5 percent in the first half, the Demon Deacons lit up the nets in the second 20 minutes, making 14-of-20 (70.0 percent) shots in the second half, including 6-of-9 (66.7 percent) from beyond the arc.
Wake Forest trailed in the game by as much as 18 points. The 18-point comeback is tied for the third largest in school history and the biggest comeback since overcoming an 18-point deficit against Duke on March 10, 1995.
Wake Forest continued to shoot well from the free throw line, making 20-of-25 (80.0 percent) shots from the foul line. The Demon Deacons have shot better than 75 percent from the charity stripe in five games this season, including four straight.
After turning the ball over 13 times in the first half, the Deacs committed just three turnovers in the second half.
Iowa held a 38-28 advantage on the glass. Wake Forest is 2-3 on the season when getting out-rebounded by its opponent.
Wake Forest Individual Notes:
J.T. Terrell
Freshman guard J.T. Terrell led all scorers with a career-high 32 points in the game, making 9-of-16 shots in the contest.
The 32 points scored are the most by a freshman since Chris King tallied 34 points against NC State on March 4, 1989.
Terrell did most of his damage from beyond the arc, hitting 7-of-11 from three-point land. The seven three pointers made tied the Wake Forest freshman record, equaling the mark set by Robert O'Kelley on January 31, 1998, against North Carolina.
Terrell was 7-of-8 from the free throw line, tying a season high for free throws made.
C.J. Harris
Sophomore guard C.J. Harris turned in his fifth double-figure game of the season, scoring 12 points.
Harris shot 3-of-5 from the field and made the only three-point shot he attempted in the game. Harris was also 5-of-6 from the foul line.
Ari Stewart
Sophomore forward Ari Stewart charted double figures for the sixth time this season and for the fifth straight game, scoring 10 points in the win.
Stewart also grabbed three rebounds and had a steal.
Ty Walker
Junior center Ty Walker narrowly missed a double-double, scoring eight points and grabbing a team-high eight rebounds.
Walker also swatted five shots, bringing his season total to 33 blocks. He also had three steals in the win.
Travis McKie
Freshman forward Travis McKie scored five points, failing to reach double figures for the first time in his collegiate career.
While not scoring at his usual place, McKie did pay dividends on the defensive side, blocking a season-high three shots and grabbing six rebounds.
McKie tied for the team high with four assists.
