WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's and women's cross country teams are each ranked in the top ten of the Southeast Region in the final regular season USTFCCCA polls. The women's team finished the season with a sixth place ranking, while the men earned a tenth place ranking.
The Demon Deacon women moved up three spots after holding a ninth place ranking last week. Five of the top six schools ranked in the Southeast Region are from the Atlantic Coast Conference, including top-ranked Virginia. Duke ranked close behind in second, followed by North Carolina, North Carolina State, and Richmond to round out the top five.
Along with the Wake Forest men's team, five other ACC squads earned rankings in the Southeast Region, including top-ranked North Carolina State, No. 2 North Carolina, No. 3 Virginia, No. 4 Duke, and No. 15 Virginia Tech.
The Wake Forest cross country teams are coming off a successful weekend at the 2010 ACC Championships, where the men claimed sixth place overall and the women took seventh. Junior Anna Nosenko finished in third place individually with a time of 20:10.6 to earn All-ACC honors for the first time in her career.
Both the men's and women's squads will return to action next Saturday, Nov. 13, for the NCAA Southeast Regionals in Louisville, Ky. The races are set to begin at 11 a.m.
