NEW YORK, NY - Senior Jon Reid recorded an NCAA Provisional time in the 400m dash and Brent LaRue broke his own pole vault school record at the New York Armory Duals Saturday evening.

Reid, who was competing in his first 400m race this season, won the event with a provisional qualifying time of 47.14. That time is the 20th best collegiate time in the country this year.

Reid then joined LaRue, Tyler Dodds and Alex Hill for the 4x400m relay in which the team finished second with a season-best time of 3:12.11.

LaRue continued his strong season by besting his own school-record in the pole vault, clearing a height of 16-2.75. He broke his mark of 16-0.75 which he set last month at the UNC Invitational.

Hill had a busy evening as he also ran solid times in the prelims of both the 60m dash (7.23) and the 60m hurdles (22.82) and then jumped a season-best 21-1.50 (6.44m) in the long jump to finish ninth overall. Dodds turned in a time of 7.13 in the prelims of the 60m dash and then finished sixth in the 200m dash with a season-best time of 22.07.

Senior Thomas Sensing has improved his season-best mark in the shot put in each of his five competitions this year. His latest effort of 54-6.50 (16.62m) was his best indoor mark and was good enough for second in the event.

On the women's side, sophomore Dina Nosenko ran an indoor-best 4:49.74 to win the mile run. She led three Deacons across the line as Cate Berenato also turned in a season-best 5:07.69 to finish 16th and Caitlin Crawford took 18th at 5:11.73.

Molly Binder ran her second strong 800m race in the past week, finishing second with an indoor-best time of 2:10.92. Her time is the third-best 800m time in the ACC this season. She also won the 800m dash last weekend at the Virginia Tech Elite Meet with a previous indoor-best of 2:12.81.

The women's 4x400m relay team of Maddy Ricco, Caroline Vaughn, Alex Gove and Nicole Castronuova ran a season-best 3:48.90 and finished second in the event.

Individually, Vaughn took second in the 60m hurdles with a season-best 8.53. Gove also made the finals of the 60m hurdles and finished fifth overall with a time of 8.95.

In the 400m dash, Gove turned in an indoor-best 56.62 to finish seventh and Castronuova finished 19th at 58.67.

The distance medley relay team of Crawford, Myesha Barr, Laura Rapp and Molly Binder won the event and crossed the line in a time of 11:53.71. Barr would also finish seventh in the 60m dash with a time of 7.79, which is just .01 off her school-record of 7.78 that she set last weekend.

In the throws, sophomore Sarah Brobeck turned in a season-best toss of 40-0.75 (12.21m) to finish eighth in the shot put while fellow sophomore Carmen Green took 11th in the weight throw with an indoor-best 45-5.00 (13.84m).

Wake Forest will now head back to Blacksburg, Va., for the Virginia Tech Challenge next weekend as a final tune-up before the Indoor ACC Championships in two weeks, which are also being held in Blacksburg.
