WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Zach Jacob homered twice and drove in four runs, while Brian Blasik and Jimmy Roesinger each drove in three runs to lead Dayton to its first win of the season, a 19-10 victory against Wake Forest on Sunday afternoon at Gene Hooks Field at Wake Forest Baseball Park.

Wake Forest falls to 2-2 on the season, while Dayton improves to 1-2.

The offense for each team dominated the game as the two squads combined for 29 runs on 34 hits. The Wake Forest defense also struggled, committing seven errors, including four in the first inning.

Jacob led the Flyers at the plate, hitting his second and third home runs of the season, driving in four runs and scoring three times. Roesinger went 4-for-7 at the plate and drove in three runs, while Blasik was 3-for-7 with three RBIs.

Chris Beesley earned the victory on the mound for Dayton in relief. Beesley threw 3.1 innings and allowed six runs on seven hits, while striking out three.

Ryan Lloyd, Carlos Lopez and Ryan Semeniuk each homered to lead Wake Forest offensively. Lloyd registered his first collegiate round-tripper with a solo homer in the eighth. Lopez tied the game with his three-run shot in the third inning. Semeniuk had a team-high three hits in six at-bats and drove in three runs.

Freshman Niko Spezial received the loss in his first collegiate start, giving up five runs, just two of which were earned, on four hits in 3.2 innings of work. Spezial struck out two and walked three.

Several Demon Deacons made their collegiate debut in the game. Matt Conway, Taylor Kaprive, Trenton Langston, John Stamper and Casey Wadkins each entered late in the game, with Conway, Kaprive, Langston, Mike Lubanski, Mark Rhine and Wadkins each recording their first collegiate hit.

Dayton jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the first, thanks in large part to four Wake Forest errors. Roesinger led off the game with a double down the left field line and went to third when Blasik reached on a fielding error by the shortstop. Zach Jacob grounded into a fielder's choice to short to score Roesinger. Bentley Heyman's throw to first to try to retire Jacob was wild and allowed Jacob to move to second. Jacob then stole third and came home to score on a throwing error by Mike Murray to make the score 2-0. Walks to Aaron Dunsmore and Cole Tyrell put runners on first and second. Dan Welch grounded into a fielder's choice to short, but Heyman's second error of the inning on a bad throw trying to complete the double play allowed Dunsmore to score for the third Flyer run of the frame.

Wake Forest threatened in each of the first two innings, but was unable to push across a run. The Deacs left runners stranded at second and third in the first inning and then left the bases loaded in the second.

The Demon Deacons were able to break through in the third, tying the game with three runs. Murray drew a one-out walk and then moved to second on a single by Mac Williamson. After Austin Stadler struck out looking, Lopez launched a homer over the left-center field fence, his first of the year, to even the score at three.

Dayton grabbed the lead right back with two runs in the top of the fourth. Joe Dorocak singled to right center and then came around to score on a two-out RBI double by Zach Blanchette. Roesinger then reached on a throwing error by shortstop Patrick Blair. On the bad throw, Blanchette scored from second base to make the score 5-3.

The Flyers added on to the lead with five more runs in the fifth. Jacob led off the inning with a home run down the left field line that just carried over the fence. Dunsmore followed with a double down the right field line and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Tyrell. Jonathan Castine and Mitchell Nelson drew back-to-back walks. A wild pitch on ball four to Nelson allowed Dunsmore to cross the plate. Blanchette drove home Castine on a double to the left center field gap. Roesinger reached on an infield single to third to plate Nelson. A bad throw by third baseman Shane Kroker trying to retire Roesinger at first allowed Blanchette to score from second base on the play to make the score 10-3.

After Dayton scored seven runs in the top of the seventh, Wake Forest was able to cut the lead with a six-run bottom of the seventh. Conway, Langston and Kaprive hit three consecutive singles to load the bases with one out. Wadkins drew a four-pitch walk to score Conway. Rhine drove in two runs with a double down the left field line. Semeniuk cleared the bases with a three-run homer to left center to make the score 17-9.

The Demon Deacons added another run in the bottom of the eighth on Lloyd's first collegiate home run, a solo shot over the right field fence.

Dayton closed the scoring with two runs in the top of the ninth. Welch led off the inning with a walk and moved to second when Nelson was hit by a pitch with one out. After Blanchette struck out looking, Roesinger drove in his third run of the day with a single to right-center field. Blasik plated Nelson with another single to right-center to put the Flyers in front 19-10.

Wake Forest returns to action on Tuesday at 4 p.m. (ET) when it hosts No. 12 Coastal Carolina.
