WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Freshman Garret Drogosch and senior Keaton Morgan were selected to the 2009 ACC Men's Cross Country All-Academic Team, as announced by ACC Commissioner John D. Swofford on Friday.
Morgan is pursuing a degree in biology and plans to attend medical school. The West Plains, Mo., native was a consistent scorer for Wake Forest during the 2009 cross country season. Morgan rounded out the year finishing second for Wake Forest at the ACC Championships with a time of 25:29.3 in the 8-kilometer run and third at the NCAA Southeast Regionals with a 10K time of 32:59.2.
Drogosch, a Westlake Village, Calif., native with an undeclared major, is one of only two freshmen selected to the 2009 squad - also NC State's Patrick Campbell. Drogosch led Wake Forest in five meets during his freshman campaign, including the NCAA Southeast Regionals and ACC Championships. At the NCAA Southeast Regionals, he completed the course in 32:23.08, following his time of 24:57 at the ACC Championships. Drogosch placed in the top-20 harriers at three events in 2009: the Wake Forest Relays, Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational and Blue Ridge Open.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
