WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Wake Forest men's golf team will begin the 2010 spring season on Monday at the JU Invitational hosted by Mark McCumber at the famed Stadium Course at TPC of Sawgrass.
In just it's second year, the tournament moved from the Dye's Valley Course where Lamar won the inaugural event. Wake joins fellow ACC-foe Clemson along with East Tennessee State, Kentucky, Georgia State and East Carolina as some of the top teams in the field.
Hole-by-hole scoring of the event and live video of the famous island par-3 17th will be provided by Golfstat.com. The first two rounds will be played on Monday, Feb. 8, and the final round is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 9.
Wake Forest's lineup will consist of seniors Brendan Gielow and Travis Wadkins along with sophomore Lee Bedford and freshmen Evan Beck and Charlie Harrison.
Gielow is coming off a whirl-wind fall which him start the year representing the United States at Walker Cup. He played in three of the four tournaments and led the team with a 71.6 stroke average. Beck also played in three of the four events and was second on the squad with a 73.0 scoring average.
The weather forecast looks favorable in the Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., area with temperatures in the low-to-mid 60s and very little chance of rain. Be sure to check back to WakeForestSports.com for complete recap at the end of each round.
