WILMINGTON, NC - The Wake Forest men's golf team carded a 36-hole total of 595 and are currently in the a tie for sixth through two rounds of the Seahawk Invitational at the Landfall Country Club in Wilmington, NC.
The Deacons opened the day with a round of 6-over 294 and were in a tie for third but the weather changed in the afternoon and the scores went up. Wake would post a 13-over 301 in the afternoon and slipped back to a tie for sixth.
"The afternoon round was very different from the morning round," said Wake Forest head coach Jerry Haas. "The wind really picked-up and the temperature dropped. It made scoring pretty tough but the guys hung in there. They hit a lot of good shots and made a lot of pars but we need to finish a little better. I think we'll do that tomorrow."
Augusta State, the ninth-ranked team in the country, had a very good day and currently lead the tournament by 19-shots over South Carolina. ASU carded an 8-under 280 in the opening round and led by 14-shots. A 289 in round two extended the lead to 19-shots through 36-holes.
