Darius Songaila returned for New Orleans last Wednesday after missing two weeks with an ankle sprain. On Monday, he scored six points in two minutes to help the Hornets avoid a five-game losing streak. In the contest, Songaila recorded seven points, four rebounds and an assist as New Orleans (32-32) defeated Golden State, 135-131.
In other action for the Hornets this week, Songaila combined for six points, three boards, two assists and a block. Teammate Chris Paul remained sidelined after undergoing knee surgery following an injury sustained on Jan. 29.
Tim Duncan scored in double figures for the Spurs in all three games he played this past week. Duncan had 13 points, five helpers and five boards in a two-point loss at Cleveland on Monday night and, at Memphis on Saturday, he netted 17 points in the Spurs' 10-point victory. Duncan totaled 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists in a win over New Orleans on Friday. The Spurs record now stands at 36-25, currently ranking them seventh overall in the Western Conference.
Jeff Teague played 26 minutes this week for Atlanta. He totaled nine points, including four in six minutes on 2-of-2 shooting in the Hawks' 127-122 win against Golden State on Friday. Atlanta ranks fourth in the East with a 40-23 record.
Rookie James Johnson had a very active 11 minutes against Utah on Tuesday. He was 3-of-5 from the field for seven points to go with four boards and a block in the Bulls' loss. He totaled six points, one rebound and block in two other games for Chicago (31-32) this week.
