WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest freshman first baseman Matt Conway has been named a second team freshman All-American by Ping!Baseball, as announced on Monday evening.
With the recognition, Conway earns his second freshman All-American honor following the 2010 season. The rookie was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American last week.
Conway finished the season with a team-best .382 batting average, which was the highest batting average among freshmen in the Atlantic Coast Conference, ranks seventh nationally among freshmen and is third among freshmen in Wake Forest history. The Birmingham, Mich., native also added six homers and drove in 32 runs during his freshman year. He finished second on the team with 19 multi-hit games and also had seven multi-RBI contests.
