BRYAN, Texas - Senior All-American Natalie Sheary shot an even-par 72 on Wednesday to lead the Wake Forest women's golf team in the final round of the NCAA Fall Preview at the Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas. Sheary finished the tournament at 4-under par and tied for ninth.

As a team, the Demon Deacons carded a 304 on Wednesday to finish in a tie for 13th with Texas at 34-over par.

Sheary had a bit of an up-and-down final round. She started out with a bogey at No. 11, her second hole of the day, but then climbed back to 1-under after back-to-back birdies at Nos. 13 and 14. She then bogeyed the first hole to fall back to even and birdied the fifth to once again get into red numbers. But her see-saw day finished bogey-birdie-bogey over the final three holes for a round of even-par 72.

The final round 72 followed a pair of 2-under 70s, which left the West Hartford, Conn., native in a tie for ninth at 4-under par. Sheary finished the tournament with a total 11 birdies and 36 pars. This was her fourth NCAA Fall Preview and it was her best finish.

Sophomore Michelle Shin got off to a good start on Wednesday, making back-to-back birdies at Nos. 12 and 13 but those were her only birdies of the day as she went on to finish with a 3-over 75. Shin finished the 54-hole event tied for 30th at 4-over.

Junior Cheyenne Woods had another tough round on Wednesday as she, like the rest of the team, was battling a cold all week. Woods posted her second-straight round of 6-over 78 and finished the tournament tied for 70th at 13-over par.

Freshman Olafia Kristinsdottir completed her first tournament as a Demon Deacon with a final round 79 and she tied for 84th at 22-over. Junior Hunter Ross posted a final round 82 and finished 93rd.

The team race was exciting right down to the final holes. Alabama, the 36-hole leader, held off a hard charging LSU squad and won the tournament by one-shot at 15-under par. The Tigers made eight birdies in the closing six holes and posted the low-round of the day but in the end, it wasn't enough to catch the Crimson Tide.

The Tigers did however capture the individual title as Megan McChrystal tied the course record with a 7-under 65 to claim medalist honors at 10-under-par. She overtook 36-hole leader Marina Alex of Vanderbilt with five birdies in the final six holes.

Wake Forest will return to action in just over a week as it heads to Nashville, Tenn., for the Mason Rudolph Championship. The first round is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 24.
