Wake Forest Head Coach Jeff Bzdelik
Opening Statement...
"It always feels good to win. One thing I was really pleased with is that we had 17 assists on 26 baskets. I thought we really shared the basketball. We made a conscious effort to take quality shots. It's a lot more fun when everyone's involved and everybody is passing the basketball. Everybody shot 50 percent or better except Gary Clark. Gary's had a great year shooting the basketball and he was 3-for-8 (tonight). Everybody else was 50 percent or better is the way that I can see it and that's a great thing."
On the play of Gary Clark this season...
Gary has been playing with great energy throughout the entire year. I'm really proud of him. He's doing a great job in practice on a day-to-day basis and in all the games of just bringing forth a great effort. He's doing the very best that he can to show our young players the way."
On players being asked to do different things this season than they have in the past...
"Every one of our guys is in a new role. Our five freshman, four of which are playing right now and Tony Chennault hopefully soon - it's new for them. It's different than high school. They'll tell you that. Ty Walker and Gary Clark are playing more minutes than they have ever played before. C.J. Harris is playing a new role as a point guard. Everything is new. Yes, we've had our struggles and challenges, but I see this team growing and getting better and getting better is all that it's about."
On the play of Nikita Mescheriakov and Carson Desrosiers against High Point...
"Carson and Nikita did a great job with (being) a physical presence down there for the most part. They played with high energy and they were active."
Freshman forward Travis McKie
On the team's offensive approach against High Point...
"Everybody was passing the ball and looking for each other. (We were) trying to find the offense and look for the best shot available."
On the leadership of Gary Clark this season...
"Gary has shown a lot. Gary has taken that role from being on the sidelines to being on the floor. We try to feed off of him and I try to help him in any way that I can emotionally out there on the court. He says a lot (in practice). We try to get on each other whenever somebody makes a mistake. We have to be a catapult for each other so that we can grow from our mistakes in the past and improve as a team."
