ALPHARETTA, Ga. - Junior All-American Evan Beck rebounded from a tough opening round to post a 2-under par 70 on Monday at the U.S Collegiate Championship at the Golf Club of Georgia. Behind Beck, Wake Forest carded a round of 298 and are in 12th place in the 14-team field.

Beck started his day with an eagle-3 at the par-5 first hole and was off and running. He made another birdie at No. 7 to get to 3-under but a bogey at No. 8 dropped him back to 2-under. Another bogey at No. 13 brought him back to 1-under but a closing birdie at the par-5 18th gave the Virginia Beach, Va., native a 2-under 70. That was his third under-par round of the year and his sixth round at par or better. Beck starts the final round in a tie for 35th.

Sophomore Thomas Birdsey followed up his opening round 75 with another 75 on Monday. He made one birdie and four bogeys on the afternoon. Birdsey is tied with teammate Lee Bedford in 51st place at 6-over par.

Bedford was even par at the turn on Monday but made a double-bogey at No. 10 and couldn't right the ship the rest of the round and would card at 5-over 77.

Junior Charlie Harrison birdied his first hole of the day but made a pair of double-bogeys and finished with a 76. After his opening round 72, Harrison is tied for 41st at 4-over par.

Senior Justin Bryant had a bit of a tough day on Monday and finished with an 83.

Georgia Tech got a pair of 3-under 69s from Bo Andrews and Seth Reeves and carded a round of 6-under 282 to take the 36-hole lead. The defending champs are three-shots clear of UCLA and four-shots clear of Washington, Southern Cal and Auburn.

Individually, Cheng-Tsung Pan of Washington shot a 4-under 68 on Monday and has caught first round leader Steve Lim of Southern Cal. The duo is 5-under par through 36 holes and leads buy one shot over five different players.

The Demon Deacons are in the second grouping off the first tee Tuesday morning, beginning at 9:50 a.m. EST. Wake is paired with Texas A&M and Iowa. Livestream.com will have live coverage of the final round starting at 2:00 p.m. EST.

Four other Demon Deacons were also in action on Monday at the O'Briant Jensen Classic at the Cardnial Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. John Varol, Brandon Ng, Beau Cutts and Franklin Dolan are all playing as individuals in the 36-hole event. Varol led the quartet with a 2-over 72 and is tied for eighth. Ng carded a 76 while Cutts posted a 78 and Dolan came in with an 87.
