
Demon Deacons Look to Reclaim Title at Highlands Invitational

The 13 team field will play 36 holes on Monday and the final round is scheduled for Tuesday
WESTCHESTER, Ill.- Fresh off their first victory of the 2025-26 season, the Wake Forest men's golf team looks to claim another as they head to the Highlands Invitational, starting Monday at Chicago Highlands Club in Westchester, Ill.
In their last outing in 2023 at the Highlands Invitational, the Deacs shot 31-under-par as a team and tied Missouri for first place to take home the team title. Michael Brennan took home the individual title after completing the tournament at 12-under-par.
Wake Forest finished their impressive team performance at the 2023 Highlands Invitational with four players in the top-10.
The Deacs are coming off a first place finish at the Bryan National Collegiate last week in Greensboro, turning in a 54-hole score of 840 (-24).
Teams will play 36 holes on Monday, September 15, with tee times starting from the first and 10th holes at 8:50 a.m. ET. The Deacs will be in the second group off the first tee with players from Coastal Carolina and ETSU. The tournament will wrap-up with 18 holes on Tuesday.
The Deacs' Lineup
Melin had a career weekend at the Bryan National Collegiate. The junior carded a career low 65 (-7) during round two of the tournament, and tallied 16 birdies over three rounds. Melin picked up his best career finish as a Demon Deacon, finishing in second place at 11-under par.
At the Bryan National Collegiate, Haberer tied his career-best finish, tying for fifth place. Leading the Deacs in the opening round, Haberer carded a career-low 66 (-6).
Prieto claimed his first collegiate title as a Demon Deacon with a score of 203 (-13), tying for eighth lowest 54-hole score to par in program history. Only recording 5 bogeys throughout the tournament, Prieto's win was highlighted by three under-par rounds, 14 birdies and 2 eagles. The Miami-native led the 87-player field in scoring on par-4s and par-5s.
Rodriguez started his career as a Deac with a top-10 finish at the Bryan National Collegiate, tying for eighth place at two-under.
Haas carded two under-par rounds at the Bryan National Collegiate, playing his best in round three, to finish inside the top-15 in 11th place.

Hao picked up a top-20 finish at the Bryan National Collegiate, finishing tied for 20th at four-over par,
Owens finished the Bryan National Collegiate tied for 39th at ten-over par.
Maddux Cook
Cook finished the Bryan National Collegiate tied for 29th at seven-over par.
