Wake Forest Game Notes | High Point Game Notes
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest will make the quick jaunt down U.S. Highway 311 to take on Triad-rival High Point on Wednesday evening.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Millis Center in High Point. The 1,750-seat arena will be the smallest venue Wake Forest has played in since the 1950s. The Deacons will most likely be playing in front of their smallest road crowd since 1,600 fans saw Wake play at Rice on Nov. 30, 1973. Wake Forest will also be the first-ever ACC team to play at High Point.
How to Catch the Game
The game can be heard on the Wake Forest IMG College Sports Network and online at WakeForestSports.com. Stan Cotten (play-by-play) and Mark Freidinger (color) have the call.
Wednesday's game will be streamed live online via the Big South Network.
Last Time Out
Wake Forest (5-3) is coming off a 70-62 loss to Richmond on Saturday in Winston-Salem. The Deacons fell behind by 23 in the second half but rallied back to cut the deficit to as little as five with 40 seconds to play.
Richmond native Travis McKie tied his career-high with 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting. He became the first Deacon to make 10 field goals in a regulation game since James Johnson went 12-for-16 against NC State on Feb. 26, 2009.
Meet the Panthers
High Point (2-5) is coming off a 72-62 loss in its Big South opener at Campbell on Saturday in Buies Creek. Junior forward Corey Law posted a double-double with career-highs of 21 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Panthers.
Law is nearly averaging a double-double on the season with 12.9 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Nick Barbour leads High Point with 16.1 points per game, while Shay Shine is also in double figures with 11.9 points per.
Series History
Wake Forest leads the all-time series with High Point, 12-1. The series dates back to the 1925-26 season, but the teams have met just three times in the past 64 seasons.
The Deacons have won six straight in the series. Wake Forest's only loss in the series is a 19-13 setback in 1934-35.
Next Up...
Wake Forest will stay on the road to play at Big East foe Seton Hall on Saturday in Newark, N.J. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Prudential Center.
Senior center Ty Walker is scheduled to return from his university suspension for Saturday's game.
The Deacons are 2-3 all-time against the Pirates with the teams' last meeting coming during the 1989-90 season in the ACC/Big East Challenge in Greensboro. Seton Hall won that game, 76-74, in overtime.
Following the Seton Hall game, the Deacons will be idle for a week to take fall semester exams.
