Team Records and Series Notes:
Wake Forest falls to 8-19 (1-11 ACC) while Florida State improves to 19-7 (9-3 ACC).
Florida State inched closer to tying the overall series with the Deacons, which Wake now leads 23-19.
The Seminoles swept the season series (when two or more games have been played) with Wake Forest for the first time since the 1999-00 season.
Jeff Bzdelik's career coaching record falls to 119-124.
The Demon Deacons will return to action on Tuesday when they host Virginia Tech at the Joel Coliseum. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip-off and can be seen on ESPN2 as well as heard on the Wake Forest ISP Network.
Wake Forest Team Notes:
Key Run: After a jumper from Ari Stewart tied the score, 35-35, with 18:43 remaining in the second half, Florida State broke open the game with a 15-4 run to take a 50-39 lead. The Deacons were unable to reclaim the lead the rest of the way.
Key Stat: Although the two sides were nearly even in total turnovers, Florida State took advantage by scoring 20 points off 14 Wake turnovers, compared to 10 points off 13 turnovers forced by the Deacons.
Wake Forest suffered its first defeat after holding a halftime lead this season. The Deacs entered the game with a 6-0 mark in that category.
The Seminoles used their speed to their advantage, outscoring Wake 15-7 on fast break points. Florida State also used its size to dominate points inside the paint by a margin of 38-22.
Wake Forest shot 19-of-58 (32.8 percent) from the floor, their third-lowest mark of the season. They also went just 3-of-17 (17.6 percent) from behind the arc, the second-lowest percentage this season.
C.J. Harris, J.T. Terrell, Gary Clark, Travis McKie and Carson Desrosiers started together for the Deacons for the fourth consecutive game and fifth time overall this season.
Wake Forest Individual Game Notes:
Freshman point guard Tony Chennault came off the bench to score a career-high 12 points, surpassing his previous high of 10 points that he set back on February 1 at Florida State.
Chennault also attempted a career-high 11 field goals against the Seminoles, besting his previous high of ten at Maryland on February 5.
Freshman Travis McKie totaled a game-high 20 points to lead the Deacs in scoring for the 11th time this season. He was just two points away from his career-high mark of 22 points, which he set at Elon on November 20. McKie has now reached double-figure scoring totals in 20 of 27 games this season.
McKie also totaled a game-high eight rebounds to lead Wake Forest in rebounding for the 18th time this season.
Freshman J.T. Terrell was perfect from the free throw line, knocking down all six of his attempts, including three free throws with 0.7 seconds left in the first half.
Sophomore C.J. Harris continued to shoot well from the free throw line, going 4-5 from the charity stripe.
