No. 5 Hurricanes Blow By Deacons 6-1

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Kayla Duncan beat her second ranked opponent in three matches but the Wake Forest women's tennis team fell 6-1 to No. 5 Miami Friday at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center in Coral Gables, Fla.
The No. 50 Demon Deacons fall to 6-9 (0-6 ACC) while the Hurricanes improve to 14-4 (6-1 ACC).
Duncan was the highlight of the match for the Demon Deacons as she outlasted No. 109 Kayla Rizzolo 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (9) at No. 3 singles to earn Wake Forest's only point of the day. The win was Duncan's second over a ranked player in three matches after she took down No. 113 Nelly Ciolkowski of Clemson last weekend.
The Deacs also got a win at No. 2 doubles where Emilee Malvehy and Martina Pavelec beat Gabriela Mejia and Melissa Bolivar 8-6. The duo improve to 9-1 this season.
Wake Forest played without Kathryn Talbert in the singles lineup for the third match in a row, forcing everyone to move up a singles court. Anna Mydlowska put up a good fight but came up short for the second straight match, falling 6-1, 2-6, 1-0 (5) to Bolivar at No. 5 singles.
The Deacs will complete their road trip Sunday with a noon match against Florida State in Tallahassee.
