DURHAM, N.C. - Sophomore Ben Lincoln placed third in the javelin throw Thursday evening on the opening day of the ACC Championships at Duke University's Wallace Wade Stadium to claim All-ACC honors for the second consecutive year.
Luke Hadden and Trey Blanton also performed well for the Deacs in the javelin throw, placing fifth and eighth, respectively.
Alex Hill was the lone Deacon competing in the grueling decathlon, and he currently stands in fourth place after the completion of five of the ten events.
Garret Drogosch and Devin Huizenga paced the Deacs in the only distance event of the evening, the 10,000-meter run, while brothers Michael and Nate Wooten competed in the discus throw.
The men are currently fifth in the team standings with eleven points after one day of competition. All 11 points came in the javelin throw, as Lincoln, Hadden, and Blanton each picked up points for the Deacons with their top-ten performances.
ACC Championship action will continue tomorrow beginning at 1 p.m. with the women's shot. Action on the track is set to start at 4 p.m. with the women's 1500-meter run. Additionally, the remainder of both the heptathlon and decathlon events will conclude tomorrow.

10,000m
Sophomore Garret Drogosch and redshirt-freshman Devin Huizenga both competed in the 10,000m run for the first time in their young careers. Drogosch turned in a time of 30:42.48 to place 12th overall, while Huizenga placed 18th in 31:17.90.
Discus Throw
Junior Michael Wooten turned in a top-ten performance in the discus throw, finishing ninth overall with a toss of 152-8. Freshman Nate Wooten, competing in his first ACC Championships, threw for a distance of 140-0 to place 14th in the event.
Javelin Throw
The Deacs picked up all of their team points in the javelin throw, as Ben Lincoln placed third overall to pick up six points and Luke Hadden earned four points for the team with his fifth-place finish.
Lincoln turned in a throw of 226-4, his second-best of the season, while Hadden covered a distance of 197-0 on his throw. The duo has led the Deacs in the event all season long, and they certainly did not disappoint on Thursday evening.
Lincoln's third-place finish earned the Hingham, Mass. native All-ACC honors for the second consecutive season, as he also placed third at last year's ACC Championships with a mark of 210-11.
The Deacs added one more point to their team total, as Trey Blanton placed eighth overall with a new personal-best throw of 184-0. The Aiken, S.C. native surpassed his previous top mark of 181-0, set two weekends ago at the Duke Invitational.
