GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest's Marcus Dillon, Paul Loeser, Nate Guthals, and Michael Wooten were named to the 2011 All-ACC Academic Men's Outdoor Track & Field Team, while junior Sarah Brobeck was named to the women's squad, as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford.
Along with athletic achievements on the track, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his or her academic career in order to be eligible for All-ACC Academic Team consideration.
Dillon and Loeser are both two-time honorees of the award, while Guthals, Wooten, and Brobeck are receiving the honor for the first time of their careers.
In early June, both Loeser and Brobeck were named to the Capital One Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-District first team. Brobeck earned first-team honors for the second consecutive year, while Loeser was named to the first team for the first time in his career.
A senior from Ontario, Canada, Dillon turned in the best outdoor season of his career during the spring semester, qualifying for the NCAA Regionals in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. He finished 16th in the event with a personal-best time of 8:55.50.
Dillon narrowly missed earning All-ACC honors in the steeplechase, as he finished fourth at the ACC Championships in a time of 8:58.02, his second-best mark of the season. Dillon closes out his career ranked third all-time in the steeplechase on the Wake Forest charts.
Dillon graduated in May with a degree in biology and French studies.
Fellow steeplechase runner Loeser joins Dillon on the All-ACC Academic team for the second time of his career. Loeser exceled on the track during his junior year, as he advanced to the NCAA Regionals in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
The local product from Winston-Salem, N.C., finished sixth in the steeplechase at the ACC Championships with a personal-best mark of 8:58.53 that shattered his previous top time by more than 15 seconds. The performance placed Loeser sixth all-time on the Wake Forest charts in the event, and he finished the season ranked seventh overall in the ACC.
Loeser is currently pursuing a double major in biology and Spanish, and he carries a cumulative 3.89 grade point average. He is a SAAC representative and also totaled over 50 volunteer hours at local homeless shelters during the spring semester.
A strong mid-distance runner for the Deacs, Guthals competed primarily in the 800-meters throughout the season. The sophomore from Littleton, Colo., finished ninth in the preliminaries of the 800-meters at the ACC Championships in a personal-best time of 1:52.80.
Guthals was a key member of several relay teams on the year, as he helped lead the DMR team to a second-place finish at the Wake Forest Open in a time of 10:16.51. Additionally, he was a part of the 4x800-meter relay that placed first at the Raleigh Relays in 7:34.54.

The Raleigh, N.C., native was ranked in the top-ten of the ACC in the discus throughout the entire season and earned a ninth-place finish at the ACC Championships with a throw of 152-8.
