Kreyman Advances to Championship Match at UVA Ranked + 1

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. - Wake Forest's Danny Kreyman claimed two singles victories on Saturday afternoon at the UVA Ranked + 1 Invitational to earn a spot in Sunday's championship match of the White Singles draw.
Kreyman picked up his first victory of the day in the quarterfinals, defeating Radford's Stijn Meulemans 3-6, 6-4, 6-0. In the semifinals against Illinois' Bruno Abdelnour, Kreyman dropped his first set 3-6, but the Long Beach, N.Y. native fought back to claim a 6-2 victory in the second set, followed by a 7-6 third-set victory.
Kreyman will face ACC foe Vlad Stefan of Maryland in Sunday's championship match at noon.
In other singles action, senior David Hopkins dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to Virginia's Justin Shane in the quarterfinals of the Blue Singles draw.
Dropping down to the fifth-place bracket, Hopkins retired East Tennessee State's Roger Ordeig in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, to advance to the fifth-place title match. Hopkins will square off against Virginia's Steven Rooda at 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
Sophomore Adam Lee was the third and final Deacon competing in singles competition, as he dropped a 5-7, 7-6, 6-2 decision to George Washington's Ugur Atalay in the consolation quarterfinals of the Orange Singles draw.
In doubles play, Lee and Kreyman received a bye in the consolation semifinals of the Orange Doubles draw, and they will face Robert Hall and Michael Lippens of Louisville on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. in the consolation championship match.
