Last Time Out
Wake Forest (10-6, 1-1 ACC) is coming off a 70-64 setback at Maryland on Wednesday in College Park. The Deacons got behind by 18 but battled back to pull within three multiple times in the second half. Wake Forest's would-be comeback was stopped short, as Maryland hung on for the six-point win.
Travis McKie led the Deacons by tying his career-high with 25 points on 8-of-14 shooting.
Ty Walker came within shouting distance of a triple double, as the senior center finished with eight points, nine rebounds and eight blocks.
Meet the Wolfpack
NC State (12-5, 1-1 ACC) is coming off an 82-71 loss to Georgia Tech on Wednesday in Raleigh. The Yellow Jackets used a 19-3 run over the final six minutes of the first half to take control of the game.
The Wolfpack have five players ranked in the top 25 of the ACC in scoring, led by C.J. Leslie who is 11th with 13.7 points per game. Scott Wood, who is second on the team with 12.8 points per, leads the ACC in 3-point field goal percentage at 43.9 percent (43-for-98).
Series History
NC State leads the all-time series with Wake Forest, 134-99. In its 234th all-time meeting, the series is now tied for the second-most frequent matchup in the ACC.
The series dates back to the 1910-11 season when the two schools were Raleigh-area rivals. Wake took the first meeting, 33-6, and then went on to win 10 of the first 13 contests.
Wake Forest is 17-5 against NC State at the Joel Coliseum. The Deacs have taken five of the last seven at the venue, but the Wolfpack won 80-55 last year in Winston-Salem.
Next Up...
Wake Forest will play back-to-back road games next week beginning with a 7 p.m. contest at Duke on Thursday, Jan. 19. Then the Deacons will travel to Boston College to take on the Eagles in a noon game on Saturday, Jan. 21. The stretch should amount to Wake's toughest two-game turnaround of the conference season.
