CORAL GABLES, Fla. - No. 8 Miami frustrated Wake Forest offensively all game and cruised to a 64-39 victory Thursday night at the BankUnited Center.

The win lifts the Hurricanes to 18-3 on the season and 7-1 in the conference. Wake Forest drops to 12-8 overall and 2-5 in the ACC.

Senior Riquna Williams and junior Stefanie Yderstrom each scored 14 points to lead Miami while All-American Shenise Johnson recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds to go along with seven assists.

This was the first time all season Wake Forest was held without a double-figure scorer. Senior Secily Ray led the way with nine points and four rebounds. Lakevia Boykin chipped-in with seven points and five boards while freshman Dearica Hamby pulled-down a team-high seven rebounds to go with her four points and three blocks.

The Deacs were held to a season-low 39 points and made just 15 field goals, shooting 25 percent. Miami didn't have its best night from the floor either, shooting just 38 percent but the Canes won the battle on the boards 50-40 and had 17 second-chance points.

The Deacs raced out of the gate and took an early 7-4 lead with 17:04 to play but went without a bucket for the next four minutes, allowing Miami to take an 11-7 lead. The Canes then took a nine-point lead on a three-pointer by Yderstrom but freshman Millesa Calicott answered with a three-pointer of her own to cut the lead to 24-18.

The Deacs would go cold from the field for the next six minutes as Miami built its largest lead of the half at 33-18 and would head into the locker room ahead 33-20.

Miami came out of the locker room and scored the first four points of the second half and really set the tone. The Deacs got as close as 12 but the lead hovered between 13 and 19 points the rest of the way. Every time Wake Forest looked poised to make a run, Miami would answer with a three-pointer and swing the momentum right back.

The Canes kept their foot on the pedal the rest of the way and would go onto a 64-39 victory.

Wake Forest will return home to face No. 25 North Carolina this Sunday at the Joel Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
