CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team opened the Ruth's Chris Lady Tar Heel Invitational on Friday with a round of 304 and are in a tie for 12th place.

"I think the students were trying to be a bit to precise with their irons shots early on and they missed some greens in the wrong spots," Wake Forest head coach Dianne Dailey said. "But we made a couple of birdies coming in which was good. I think we're a solid team but we're just not quote sharp yet. We'll keep working on those little things and keep getting better."

Junior Olafia Kristinsdottir led the way for the Demon Deacons with a 2-over 74. She opened the day with back-to-back birdies at Nos. 1 and 2 and finished with a total of three birdies in her round. Kristinsdottir is in a tie for 20th with two rounds to play.

Freshman Mariana Sims made her only birdie of the day at the par-5 17th and she would finish with a 3-over 75. That is her lowest round of the season and she is tied for 30th heading into Saturday.

Sophomore Allison Emrey birdied two of her final three holes to open with a 77, freshman Emily Wright carded an 88 and sophomore Marissa Dodd rounded-out the Demon Deacon scorers with a 7-over 79.

Junior Michelle Hartenstein, playing as an individual this week, opened with a round of 86.

Virginia got two under-par rounds and shot a 2-under 286 and leads the way after 18 holes. Host North Carolina and Baylor are tied for second at even-par. Individually, Baylor's Hayley Davis bogeyed her opening hole but made six birdies and no bogeys the rest of the way to post a 5-under 67. She leads by two shots over Virginia's Brittany Altomare.

The Demon Deacons will be in the middle wave off the 10th tee on Saturday morning beginning at 9:45 a.m. Golfstat.com will have live scoring of the final two rounds.
