
Wake Forest Falls to Clemson

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -Andrea Beck had 11 kills and Kylie Hargreaves chipped in 10 on Saturday night, but Clemson defeated Wake Forest 3-0 (20-25, 15-25, 21-25) in Reynolds Gym.
Beck hit .308 on the match while assisting on a team-high five blocks. Hargreaves added five digs and two block assists.
The first set featured nine tie scores and two lead changes, but behind Sandra Adeleye's six kills, Clemson took the first set 25-20. With the score tied at 10, the Tigers went on a run, distancing themselves for the win in the first frame.
Wake Forest had three total team blocks in the second set with Beck assisting on three of them. Clemson though, held back the Demon Deacons attack and won 25-15.
Hargreaves powered the Deacs with five kills in the third set with Beck chipping in four, but the Tigers weathered a late rally by Wake Forest, winning 25-21. The Deacs were down by as much as eight, but rallied back even though Clemson held match point for four-straight points. A kill from Alexa Rand eventually sealed the win for the Tigers.
Jazmen Russell, Kristin Grissom and Ashlee Rusk all tallied four kills in the match. Taylor Dickens had a team-high 22 assists. Megan Miller led the Deacs in digs with 18.
Adeleye had 16 kills for Clemson (14-6/5-4 ACC). Kristin Faust added nine in the match.
Wake Forest (7-13/1-7 ACC) heads to Duke on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
