The Wake Forest women's golf team will run the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure this Saturday, Oct. 6, in downtown Charlotte.
The team has taken donations and will participate in the 5K race in honor of Wake Forest volleyball head coach Heather Kahl Holmes, who is currently battling breast cancer.
"We had talked about doing this race before the year started because cancer has effected so many people and we all have been touched by it," said Wake Forest head golf coach Dianne Dailey. "Then when Heather was diagnosed, it really hit close to home. We are really excited to run in her honor. The team has embraced the race and has made t-shirts with Heather's name on it. I think it will really be a fun day."
To date, the team has raised nearly $2,000 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and cancer research. If anyone is interested in donating to the women's golf team, please click the link above.
The race day activities begin at 6 a.m. Saturday morning and the race is scheduled to being at 7:15 a.m. For more information on the race, please visit www.komencharlotte.org
