WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest women's golf head coach Dianne Dailey has announced the signing of Sierra Sims and Elizabeth Doty to national letters of intent on Wednesday.
"I'm really excited to have both Sierra and Elizabeth joining our program next year," said Dailey. "I think they're both going to make a great impact on our team."
Sims, an Austin, Texas, native, is one of the top-ranked junior golfers in the country. She is ranked seventh in the Class of 2013 by juniorgolfscoreboard.com and is the top-ranked junior player in the state of Texas. Sims has won over 50 high school and junior events, including three AJGA events. Her experience in top amateur tournaments will serve her well next fall.
"Sierra brings a lot of good tournament experience to our program," Dailey said. "She's one of the top juniors in the country and will make an immediate impression."
Doty, a Pasadena, Calif., native, plays for Palos Verdes High School in the Ocean League which is one of the top high leagues in the country. She is a two-time Ocean League Player of the Year and a four-time WSCGA Southern California Regional Finalist. Doty has recorded 16 top-10 finishes on the AJGA circuit, including a win at the 2012 David Toms Foundation Shreveport Junior. Like Sims, Doty has the opportunity to make an immediate impact next fall.
"Elizabeth is really starting to come on strong, particularly towards the end of the fall," said Dailey. "She recently set a course record with a 66 in one of her high school tournaments so we're excited to see scores like that."
