Team Records and Series Notes:
Wake Forest improves to 13-15 on the season, while Boston College falls to 8-20.
Boston College leads the all-time series with WFU, 9-5, but the Deacs have won both contests against the Eagles this season, as they also claimed a 71-56 victory on January 21 in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Wake has also won 5 of 7 in the series.
Wake Forest earned their biggest win ever over the Eagles with the 29-point margin of victory. Their previous largest win came on Jan. 14, 2009, when the Deacs posted a 20-point win. The win also marks the largest margin of victory for Wake Forest in the Jeff Bzdelik era, surpassing an 81-59 win over Marist on November 23, 2010.
The Deacs' 32-point lead at the 1:35 mark of the second half stands as the largest lead for the Deacs in the Bzdelik era. The previous largest lead was 25 against Marist during the 2010-2011 season.
The Deacs are now 3-2 against the Eagles in games played at the Joel Coliseum. Wake has won three straight meetings at the venue since 2008-2009.
Jeff Bzdelik's career head coaching record improves to 132-144 overall and 21-39 while at Wake Forest.
The Demon Deacons will next take on the fourth-ranked Duke Blue Devils on Tuesday evening at 9 p.m. for Senior Night in the Joel Coliseum. The teams met once earlier this season, with Duke claiming a 91-73 victory over the Deacs in Durham on January 19. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
Wake Forest Team Notes:
Key Run: After trailing Boston College 21-20 at the 8:19 mark of the first half, the Deacs went on an 18-8 run to end the half. Freshman Chase Fischer scored five points during the spurt, including a key three-pointer at the 2:17 mark.
Key Stat: Wake Forest shot 55 percent from the field (31-56) on the afternoon, the fourth time this season that the Deacs eclipsed the 50-percent shooting mark. Boston College made 43 percent of its field goals (22 of 51).
The Demon Deacons shot 64 percent (9-14) from three-point range for the game, their sixth time this season shooting 50 percent or better from long distance. The number marked their second-highest three-point shooting percentage of the season, as the Deacs shot 70 percent (12-17) on Nov. 20 against NC Central.
Wake Forest committed a season-low seven turnovers on the afternoon. Their previous season-low total for turnovers was nine on Dec. 21 against UNC-Wilmington.
The Demon Deacons recorded 19 assists on the afternoon, tied for their second-highest assist total of the season. They recorded a season-high 23 assists on Nov. 20 against NC Central.
The Deacs maintained their largest halftime lead of the ACC season, holding a 38-29 advantage at the break.
Wake Forest opened the second half on a 19-9 run, including back-to-back three-pointers by C.J. Harris and Desrosiers during the stretch.
Wake Forest Individual Notes:
Sophomore Carson Desrosiers knocked down a career-high three three-pointers against the Eagles. His previous career-best of two treys in a single game came earlier this season against Nebraska on Nov. 30. He also tied a career high with 13 points.
Junior C.J. Harris surpassed the 20-point total for the 10th time this season, scoring 23 points to lead all scorers in the game.
Sophomore Travis McKie scored 21 points against the Eagles, marking the 24th time this season that he has reached double figures.
Freshman walk-on Doug Niedrich made the first appearance of his career, entering the game with 1:06 remaining in the second half.
Senior Ryan Keenan knocked down his first points of the season on a three-pointer - the third of his career - at the 2:13 mark of the second half.
