Distance Runners Pace Wake Forest at Virginia Tech Elite

BLACKSBURG, VA. - Senior Tom Morrison turned in a season-best time of 4:07.22 in the one mile run to pace Wake Forest on the opening day of the Virginia Tech Elite Meet Friday evening inside Rector Field House.
Fellow senior Paul Loeser was close behind Morrison in the event, finishing in a time of 4:10.12.
In the 400-meter invitational event, freshman Daniel Harrison continued to impress, finishing seventh overall in 50.33
Action at the Virginia Tech Elite Meet will resume tomorrow with the women's high jump at 11 a.m. Track events are set to begin at 1 p.m. with the women's distance medley relay.
Following is an event-by-event breakdown of action from Day One of the Virginia Tech Elite Meet.
60m Hurdles
Senior multi-event athlete Alex Hill finished 11th overall in the event with a time of 8.57.
400 meters
Freshman Daniel Harrison was the lone Deacon in the 400-meters, finishing seventh overall in 50.33.
800 Meters
A strong showing of runners represented the Deacs in the 800-meters, led by Thomas Bojanowski in fifth place with a time of 1:52.72. Nate Guthals crossed the line in 1:54.49 to place 13th overall, while Kyle Eager finished 17th in 1:55.33.
Michael McEnany also raced in the event, finishing 28th with a time of 1:56.52.
One Mile Run
Seniors Tom Morrison (4:07.22) and Paul Loeser (4:10.12) led the way in the one mile run, finishing in sixth and 12th places, respectively. Junior Tom Finneran placed 18th overall in 4:12.07, while fellow junior Anthony Marois crossed the finish line in 4:20.77 to place 28th.
