Men's Golf Finishes Tied For 11th At The Hootie At Bulls Bay

AWENDAW, S.C. - The Wake Forest men's golf team carded a final round 305 and moved-up three spots into a tie for 11th at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
Senior Lee Bedford made three birdies in his final round 78 and finished tied for 29th at 7-over par.
The Deacons had one of the best rounds going on Tuesday in cool breezy conditions, but a tough finish left them with a 17-over 305. Wake finished in a tie for 11th with Wisconsin at 38-over for the event.
Junior Charlie Harrison was the most consistent Deacon on the week, carding three-straight rounds of 3-over 75 to finish in at tie for 39th at 9-over par.
Sophomore Thomas Birdsey and junior Evan Beck both finished in a tie for 45th at 11-over par as each player carded a 76 on Tuesday. Sophomore John Varol rounded-out the lineup with an 82.
Thanks to a strong second round, Auburn was able to cruise to a 9-shot victory. The Tigers shot a 13-under 275 on Monday and would finish the 54-hole event at 10-under par. Virginia shot the only under-par round on Tuesday, a 1-under 287, to claim runner-up honors at 1-under par.
Auburn also had the top-2 individual finishers as Niclas Carlsson edged teammate Blayne Barber by one shot. Carlsson shot a final round 71 to finish at 5-under par while Barber posted a 74 and was 4-under.
The Deacons will regroup and head to the Gary Koch Invitational in Tampa, Fla., in two weeks. The 54-hole event, which is being played at the Old Memorial Golf Club, is set to being on Saturday, April 7.
