ATHENS, Ga. - The Wake Forest women's golf team carded its second-straight round of 9-over 297 and finished in 12th place at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on Sunday. The Deacons finished at 32-over for the event.

Freshman Allison Emrey closed-out her best tournament of the season with her lowest round of the year. She made four birdies in a round of even-par 72 and would finish in a tie for 23rd at 5-over par.

All-American Cheyenne Woods carded a final round 73 and finished the tournament in 12th place at 1-under par. That was her second under-par tournament of the year and the fifth of her career. The five under-par tournament are the most in school-history.

The other three Demon Deacons, Olafia Kristinsdottir, Marissa Dodd and Greta Lange, all carded final round 76s. Kristinsdottir finished tied for 56th at 13-over while Dodd was tied for 66th at +15 and Lange was 87th at +23.

Alabama led wire-to-wire en route to claiming the team title at 10-under par. The Crimson Tide opened with a 10-under 278 on Friday and played even-par the rest of the way. Host Georgia finished second at 2-over par while Florida carded the lowest round of the day, a 5-under 283, to finish third at 3-over.

Jennifer Kirby of Alabama also led wire-to-wire and claimed medalist honors. She carded a tournament-record 6-under 66 in the opening round and was 1-under par over the final 36 holes to finish at 7-under par and one-shot ahead of Laura Gonzalez of Purdue.

The Demon Deacons will get right back to action next weekend when the look to defend their title at the Bryan National Collegiate in Browns Summit, N.C. Wake Forest survived cool and damp conditions in the final round last season to claim its second BNC title. The first round gets underway on Friday, April 6.
