Throwers Lead Deacs on Opening Day of Tiger Track Classic

AUBURN, ALA. - Junior Ben Lincoln finished second overall in the javelin throw with a mark of 228-10 (69.74 meters) to lead the Wake Forest track & field team Friday afternoon on the opening day of the Tiger Track Classic, hosted by Auburn University.
A trio of Deacs also joined Lincoln in the javelin, as freshman Patrick Donelan finished seventh with a throw of 183-5 (55.91 meters) and senior Trey Blanton threw for a distance of 181-8 (55.37 meters) to claim eighth place.
Senior decathlete Alex Hill turned in a new personal best mark of 178-4 (54.37 meters) in the event en route to a ninth-place finish, surpassing his previous top throw of 167-7 (51.08 meters).
Nate Wooten also represented the Deacs in the field events on Friday, finishing 21st overall in the hammer throw with a mark of 148-2 (45.17 meters).
Senior Sarah Brobeck was the lone competitor for Wake Forest on the women's side, finishing second overall in the javelin with a throw of 133-1 (40.57 meters).
The Tiger Track Classic will continue on Saturday with the women's pole vault at 11 a.m. Action on the track is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. with the women's 4x100 meter relay. Live results from the meet are available at DeltaTiming.com.
