GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest outfielder Mac Williamson and closer Michael Dimock have both been named to the 2012 All-ACC Baseball Team in voting conducted by the league's 12 head coaches, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Williamson was named First Team All-ACC, while Dimock earned Second Team All-ACC honors. This marks the first time that either player has earned All-ACC accolades.
A native of Wake Forest, N.C., Williamson is the first Demon Deacon to earn First Team All-ACC honors since Matt Antonelli and Ben Hunter both earned First Team honors back in 2006. The 6-4, 240-pound outfielder leads the ACC with a career-best 17 home runs this season, two ahead of his closest competition in Virginia Tech's Tyler Horan.
Williamson had made 50 starts in the outfield this season and has driven in a team-best 52 runs, ranking in a tie for third in the league. To go along with his impressive power numbers, Williamson has also recorded a .287 batting average with seven doubles and 23 walks. He has shown some speed on the bases, too, by going 12-for-15 on stolen base attempts.
Dimock is a fellow North Carolinian, as he hails from Greensboro N.C. In his second year as the Demon Deacon closer, Dimock has put together a career-best 12 saves - good enough for third in the ACC. He now has 19 career saves and is ranked second all-time in Wake Forest history.
Dimock has also recorded a 3-3 record and a 3.57 ERA in 40.1 innings of work. He has struck out 36 batters and has held opponents to a .257 average, while his 26 appearances ranks 11th in the conference.
