WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest incoming freshman Grayson Murray won the Rex Hospital Open Junior Invitational on Sunday at the TPC Wakefield Plantation. The win earned Murray a spot in next week's Nationwide Tour's Rex Hospital Open.
The top 56 high school boys based on their current ranking by the Tarheel Golf Association, Junior Golf Scoreboard, Golfweek or past performance in golf events over the last year were invited to participate in this 6th annual event.
Murray shot a 36-hole score of -5under 137 to win the event for the second time. He also claimed a spot in the Nationwide event in 2010 and after a second round 66, he become the second youngest competitor to make the cut in a Nationwide Tour event.
The Rex Hospital Open begins Thursday morning at the TPC Wakefield Plantation.
