Official Capital One Academic All-District Release

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Sophomore outfielder Evan Stephens was named to the District 3 Capital One Academic All-District First Team on Thursday, May 3.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot. Honorees for the award will be announced later this month.

The Lexington, Ky. native carries a 3.72 GPA as a finance major and is also enjoying a breakout season on the field. Playing primarily in center field, Stephens is hitting .306 with 35 runs scored and 11 stolen bases in 46 games played. Also a talented bunter, Stephens leads the Deacs with seven sacrifice hits.

To be eligible for Academic All-District and All-America honors, a student-athlete must have at least sophomore standing and a GPA of at least 3.30. Voting is conducted by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
