WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The NCAA released its most recent four-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) data for Wednesday with three Wake Forest teams posting perfect scores of 1000 and seven squads earning APR Public Recognition Awards.
The Demon Deacon women's basketball, women's golf and men's cross country teams all earned perfect scores of 1,000. Wake Forest boasted the only ACC women's basketball team to have a score of 1,000.
The Deacon baseball, women's basketball, women's golf, volleyball, men's cross country, men's indoor track and field and men's outdoor track and field teams all earned APR Public Recognition Awards for having an APR that ranked in the top 10 percent of their sport nationally, giving Wake Forest the third-most recipients of the award among ACC schools. Seventeen Wake Forest teams scored above the national average for their sport.
The APR awards points to student-athletes who maintain academic eligibility as well as remain with their institution. The most recent APR scores are multi-year rates based on the scores from the 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 academic years.. A team's APR score is equal to its earned points divided by its possible points and multiplied by 1,000, with 1,000 being the highest possible score. Teams must maintain an APR of at least 925 or risk penalties such as loss of scholarships or post-season bans.
