POWELL, Ohio - Wake Forest rising-sophomores Marissa Dodd and Allison Emrey are set to compete in the 3rd Annual Pure Silk Women's Collegiate Team Championship Presented by the National Golf Coaches Association this week at the Wedgewood Golf & Country Club in Powell, Ohio.
The event is comprised of two-person teams from all levels of collegiate golf including Division I, Division II, Division III and NAIA programs. The tournament also features a unique format as the first round will be alternate shot, the second round will be best ball and the final round will be combined aggregate score.
Two years ago, Demon Deacons Cheyenne Woods and Michelle Shin teamed to win the inaugural event, outlasting the team from Alabama down the stretch.
Dodd and Emrey but enjoyed solid freshmen campaigns for the Deacs last season. They each finished with identical 76.9 scoring averages in nine events. Dodd's best finish came at the Bryan National Collegiate where she finished tied for ninth after a final round 72. Emrey also fired a final round 72 in her best finish at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, finishing tied for 23rd.
The tournament will get underway on Tuesday, July 31 with the alternate shot format. The Deacs are paired in the opening round with South Carolina. Golfstat.com will have live scoring of all three rounds.
