Wake Forest Heads to Hokie Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - After a solid outing at the Wake Forest Invitational last weekend, the Wake Forest men's and women's track teams return to action on Friday at the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va.
The meet will begin on Friday evening at 5 p.m. in the Rector Field House and continues on Saturday at 11 a.m. with additional events. Other ACC schools attending include North Carolina and NC State along with host Virginia Tech.
Katie Adair who transferred from Oklahoma this semester, set the indoor pole vault school record on Saturday with a mark of 3.80m. She will compete in the pole vault this weekend with Anna Tessiatore, Sara Small and Sydney White who finished third in the event with a mark of 3.50m.
Erin Brooks will compete in the long jump and triple jump this weekend for Wake Forest. She looks to repeat her first place performances from last weekend in each event. Pheobe Kershaw also is set to compete in the long jump and triple jump for the Demon Deacons, along with Michael Thomas on the men's side.
Junior Mytoia Gathings is coming off a strong performance at the Wake Forest Invitational where she finished in fifth place in both the 60m and 200m dash. She will compete in both these events again at the Hokie Invitational this weekend joined by teammate Anneve Waithe. On the men's side, Thomas will compete for the Demon Deacons in the 60m dash, 800m run, triple jump, and long jump.
Sprinter Myesha Barr will run in three events for Wake Forest, running in the 60m, 300m, and 200m dash. She looks to improve upon her last performance where she finished in 10th place in the 200 meter dash at 26.24 seconds.
In the 1000m and 600m run on the men's side, Mike McEnany will represent the Demon Deacons after finishing first place in the 800m run last weekend with a time of 1:56.81. Kyle Eager will complete alongside McEnany in those races on Friday and Saturday in Blacksburg, Va.
On the women's side in the 60m hurdle event, Erika Martin and Montasia Golden will represent the Demon Deacons. Martin is set to also compete in the high jump and shot put events, while Golden will represent Wake Forest in the long jump. Malcolm Nunley will run in 60m hurdle event on the men's side.
Freshman Steve Michaelsen posted a strong performance in shot put last weekend with a mark of 14.71m to secure a fourth place finish and will again compete in this event for Wake Forest at the Hokie Invitational.
Teammate Nate Wooten will compete for Wake Forest in the men's weight throw on Friday. At the Wake Forest Invitational, Wooten finished in fourth place with a throw of 15.23 meters.
A recap of event performances will be posted on Friday evening and on Saturday following the competitions on WakeForestSports.com. The following weekend, Wake Forest track and field will continue its season at the Hilton Garden Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C.
