CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - In a hard-fought match, No. 10 North Carolina defeated Wake Forest 3-0 (15-25, 20-25, 21-25) in Carmichael Arena on Saturday.

Kylie Hargreaves had a team-high 11 kills in the match for Wake Forest (12-6, 1-5 ACC) while Sophia Dodd had seven for Wake Forest with 21 assists. Megan Miller had 11 digs for the Demon Deacons while Sam Boesch had nine.

Jovana Bjelica led North Carolina (16-1, 5-1 ACC) with 16 kills while Lauren Adkins had 12.

Wake Forest started the first set out on a 3-0 run after a kill from Sophia Dodd. North Carolina rebounded to take an 8-4 lead. The Tar Heels eventually took the first set 25-15.

Tied at 5-5 in the second set, North Carolina went on a 6-0 run to go up 11-5. Wake Forest went on a 4-0 run with the Tar Heels leading 16-7 to come within five points after a block from Dodd and Hanna Lee. The Deacs fought to stay within three as the Tar Heels led 19-16, but North Carolina won the set 25-20.

In the third set, the teams played to a 7-7 tie early until North Carolina took a 13-9 leads. Wake Forest came back to tie the set at 16-16 and took a 17-16 lead after an attack error from the Tar Heels. With the score deadlocked at 19-19, UNC went on a 6-2 run to take the set 25-21 and win the match 3-0.

Wake Forest heads to Clemson and Georgia Tech next weekend with a Friday matchup against the Tigers and a Saturday match with the Yellow Jackets.
