WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Jazmen Russell had 13 kills on Friday night as Wake Forest volleyball defeated Boston College 3-1 (25-15, 25-19, 26-28, 25-15) in Reynolds Gym.

Wake Forest moves to 15-8 on the season with a 4-7 record in the ACC. Boston College falls to 8-15 and 0-11 in the conference.

The Demon Deacons out-blocked the Eagles 16.0-9.0 on the match while Sophia Dodd paced the Deacs with 27 assists, eight kills, six block assists and seven digs. Kylie Hargreaves had her eighth double-double on the season with 10 kills and 10 digs. Kristin Grissom had seven block assists and two solo blocks in the match.

In the first set, Wake Forest held a slim 10-9 lead over Boston College and then went on a 9-3 run forcing the Eagles to take both timeouts in that span. A service error from Madisen Lydon of Boston College led to the Deacs taking set one 25-15.

Both teams played close early in the second set as the Demon Deacons had an 11-10 lead nearly midway through. Wake Forest then outscored the Eagles 6-3 in the next nine points, leading to a Boston College timeout. The Eagles narrowed the score to 18-17 but Wake Forest responded by going on a 7-2 run to close out the set on a block from Grissom, winning 25-19.

Boston College won the third set 28-26 as both teams extended play with several long rallies. The Deacs were one point away from winning the match at 24-22 until the Eagles came back to tie it with two straight points. Using a blocking error and a kill, Boston College won the set, forcing the match to a fourth frame.

The Eagles went up early in the fourth set as Boston College had a 9-6 lead which forced the Demon Deacons to call a timeout. Wake Forest came back to take the lead at 12-11 after an attack error from BC. The Deacs tallied an 11-2 run en route to winning the set 25-15 thanks to a kill from Grissom to win the match 3-1.

Anna Skold had 14 kills to lead Boston College while Katty Workman had 12.

Megan Miller led the Demon Deacons with 18 kills. Ashlee Rusk had two solo blocks while Matalee Reed had four block assists and five kills.

Wake Forest hosts Syracuse on Saturday night in Reynolds Gym at 6:30 p.m.
