EARLYSVILLE, Va. - Wake Forest's Samantha Jones and Ashley Brubaker finished 49th and 55th, respectively, to lead the Demon Deacons to a 13th place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regionals on Friday at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va.
Freshmen Ellie Abrahamson placed 83rd with graduate student Kristin Weisse finishing close behind in 87th. Abrahamson came across at 22:16.4, while Weisse finished in 22.19.5
"Our goal was to finish top 10 in this competition and we fell short of that goal," said distance coach Brad Hunt. "The good news is that we are only losing one of the girls to graduation this year, and we really have time to focus on being better and have that effort reflected in our overall results."
Wake Forest finished with 384 points achieving a 13th place finish out of 38 teams.
William & Mary's Emily Stites captured the women's individual title in 19:57.5. The team title was captured by Virginia with a score of 57.
Both Virginia and William and Mary will advance to the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. on Nov. 23.
With cross-country season now complete, the Demon Deacons look forward to the start of indoor track season with a home meet on Dec 7.
